Bill 41 - 2023: Forests Statutes Amendment Act has now passed the third reading as of November 9, 2023 with no changes from the 1st reading, and we are waiting for Royal Assent, which may be early as November 20.

Once Royal Assent is granted by the Lieutenant Governor, Bill 41 will become a part of the Acts. While most bills come into force on the date of Royal Assent, Bill 41 contains a commencement section that sets a different date for the bill to come into force.

Therefore, the effective date of Bill 41 is still undetermined as a new regulation needs to be developed and brought forward. In the meantime Forest Tenures Branch will continue to develop supporting materials to implement the change to cutting permits and road permits, and prepare for implementation.
